A lot happens within us when a new life grows inside of our bodies. Prenatal yoga at Atmajyoti is specially designed to benefit the pregnant body. We work to strengthen our bodies with gentle dynamic movements while breathing consciously.
Yoga is a valuable tool during pregnancy when so many changes take place in the body, mind and soul.
The combination of soft conscious movements with mindful breathing, promote the body’s flexibility and strength, while calming the nervous system. This creates circulation and increased body awareness, and teaches the mother to tune into her needs, while letting go of false expectations and demands. Deep relaxation releases tension and anxiety and makes it easier to accept all the changes and trust our bodies.
Prenatal yoga classes, give the mother an opportunity to be with her baby and connect with her pregnancy. We share our thoughts and feelings with each other and how we as a group can support each other in this wonderful process of carrying a life inside.
The practice of yoga gives us a tools and prepares us for the labor and the time after. Yoga teaches us to stay present and focuses during moments that are physically and mentally challenging.
