Integrating Yoga & Meditation
A weekend workshop with Michael Stone, Feb 2-4 2018
Friday Night Lecture 18:00-20:00
Genuine Peace: How Yoga & Meditation Really Work
People are drawn to the interior practices of mindfulness, largely because they find themselves vulnerable to overstimulation, exhaustion, and being overwhelmed. Meditation teaches us how to calm the mind and body, how to recognize when we are over-extended or burning out, and how to mitigate the tendency to worry and ruminate. Movement practice & Stillness practice can also be tools that inspire to get involved in our communities. Drawing on the insights of western psychology as well as his practice of Yoga and Buddhist meditation, Michael will offer reflections and practices for making friends with your mind.
You can join this class as a single class (300 kr). A lecture for all levels, with or without experience of meditation. If you join the full workshop this workshop is included.
Saturday & Sunday Morning Asana 8:30-11:30
We will slow down traditional sequences of vinyasa yoga to explore the intersection of alignment based practice with creative approaches to joint mobility and embodied mindfulness. You will learn to move in new ways by blending tradition with Michael's well-known sequences of movement practices for hips, shoulders, and spinal articulation.
Saturday & Sunday Afternoon Meditation and Study 13:00-15:00
In the afternoons, you will learn to settle your mind, find space in your breathing, and develop concentration. This will allow you to investigate your experience with more clarity and depth. We will study the psychology of meditation and you’ll learn to develop a daily practice. This workshop is like being in a yoga workshop, a university classroom, and a monastery. All at once!
