Before & inside the yoga hall
Leave your shoes in the entrance and your clothes in the changing room. Do not bring bags into the yoga room. You can take out valuables and bring them in and put them in the right hand door of the locker inside the yoga hall. Turn off your mobile phone completely or put it on "flight mood", do not have it on silent (it will be heard anyway). Remember to maintain a calm and quiet environment in the yoga room, if you need to talk to your neighbour on the carpet next door, do so in a soft and pleasant tone of voice.

Course, semester card, monthly and clipboard and drop-in
You check in with your QR code when you arrive. We'll help you if you need to.

Mom & Baby
Bring a blanket for the baby and some toys to watch your mother do yoga. At first it can feel unfamiliar with the environment, remember to always go out with your baby if it cries, you both get used to it after a couple of times. Thank you for bringing your baby's diapers out when you leave.

Make up for missed course opportunities
If you book off from your course place at least 2 hours before the class starts, you have credit for that time. That time can be recouped throughout the course. However, it is not possible to 'move over' missed times from one semester to another.

If you become long-term ill and have a medical certificate, you can freeze your card/course and catch up next semester. This only applies if you inform us immediately when sick leave begins. We do not approve the notification retrospectively.

Food & Talk
There is a yoga porridge breakfast every weekday except during the summer schedule. In the kitchen you feel at home, take what you want, set up your dishes and pay to someone on the staff. You are welcome to sit down, have a cup of tea and just soak up the cozy atmosphere. Feel free to talk, but be thoughtful as there are often ongoing lessons.

Be sensitive to how you feel. Never perform yoga under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. If you are taking any medication, you can feel free to consult your yoga teacher or doctor about the combination of medication/yoga. When performing yoga, you will face joy and well-being but sometimes also resistance and fear. If you get emotionally touched during or after a yoga session, feel free to talk to your teacher about it afterwards.

For Mysore students
At Atmajyoti we practice Ashtanga yoga according to Sri K. Pattabhi Joi's tradition. According to this tradition, we do the Ashtanga sequence in step with our own breathing. We memorize the order and learn the names of all asanas. We do not take new positions when we ourselves think, but wait until the teacher shows us the next exercise. If you need to modify an exercise ask your teacher. If you are unsure of the order of the sequence, ask the teacher.

You are also welcome to come and do Hatha- Yin or Restorative at our Mysore/selfpractice classes.

Feel how you feel every day. Let breathing be your guide.

Respect your limits. Perform your yoga with respect for yourself and for your surroundings.

Always have your own yoga mat with you. We also recommend that you have a fabric mat that you put on the mat when starting the sitting movements.

According to tradition, ashtanga yoga is not practiced on lunar days or at the first 3 days of menstruation. However, we are open mon-days but then be extra careful to feel how you feel these days.
