Vipassana retreat with Christiane Wolf - September 2023

We are busy in our lives – often it feels good and productive until we notice that we have forgotten to rest and recover. Taking a vacation may not be enough because we often take the "busy mind" with us. We may need to disconnect completely for a few days and turn our attention inwards and to the present. Be kindly present with ourselves.

 

For seven days, we enter silence and silence without the distractions of everyday life such as the internet, news, TV, work and even without books. Welcomes not only stillness, but also the experience and joy that arises from within, completely independent of the constant stimulation from the outside.

 

This silent retreat meets the requirements for you to train as a MBSR/MBCT and MSC teacher and is led by Christiane as a Vipassanaretreat.

 

We will alternate periods of sitting meditation with walking meditation in the beautiful surroundings. We will also practice soft yoga and body scanning.

Our practice is both during the meditations but also in between, starting when we wake up with the first meditation session at 6am and ending at 9.30pm before we go to bed.

 

We plan to make a joint excursion to Mont Serrat on the last day.

Practical information

 

We stay at Can Vital, which is located in a wonderful setting on the Spanish mainland overlooking the hills of Penedes, with a mild autumn climate. We bring our own chef and eat delicious vegetarian food.

 

Places are limited to 20 participants. Both beginners and people with previous meditation and yoga experience are welcome. 

 

Flights to Barcelona are booked and paid for by you. Email us your flight times when you book. Try to arrive as early as possible. We will arrange for transfers to take place at 1 point (around 3pm) on the day the course starts.

 

The transfer is about 1 hour to Can Vital and costs about 50 Euro per person return.

 

The retreat starts with a dinner on arrival. We hold a presentation where we also have the opportunity to greet each other before we go into silence together.

About Christiane

 

Dr. Christiane Wolf is a medical doctor who switched to Vipassana and MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teaching and also trains Mindfulness teachers. It may still surprise her that for more than a decade now she has been transforming people's lives with mindfulness and Dharma instead of a scalpel.

 

She is a senior lecturer at InsightLA in Los Angeles and at Spirit Rock Mediation Center, as well as a faculty member in Mindfulness and MBSR at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts Medical School and at Arbor Seminare in Germany. Christiane received further training from Trudy Goodman in 2011 and has a four-year Dharma teacher training with Jack Kornfield and Joseph Goldstein. She teaches individuals, groups and retreats in the US and Europe.

Originally from Berlin, Germany, she now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their three children.

About Viveka

 

Viveka Blom Nygren founded the yoga studio Atmajyoti Yoga in 2002, and has been running the studio ever since. She started practicing Ashtanga yoga in 1998. Viveka is certified by the Yoga Alliance and continues to educate herself in yoga and meditation. Viveka teaches MediYoga, Hathayoga, Pranayama and Meditation and she also does corporate assignments and holds retreats. She teaches on our yoga retreats.

 

Viveka is a certified Pranayama teacher after a 3-year Pranayama training at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, Lonavala India, where Sudhir Tiwari and Sri O.P Tiwari were her teachers. Viveka is also a MediYoga therapist after 2 years of studies at the MediYoga Institute. Furthermore, Viveka is a certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher after a 2-year training with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, a training in collaboration with and developed by The Awareness Training Institute
and the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California at Berkeley.

About Can Vital

 

Can Vital is located in the heart of Alt Penedes nestled in nature with beautiful views of the Montserrat mountain range.  A peaceful place that invites deep contact with nature, a place to unwind and listen inwards. We live alone here in the mountains. The rooms are newly made and carefully decorated to blend in with the beautiful surroundings.

Flight: Book to Barcelona and pay for yourself. We arrange a transfer from the airport to Can Vital at cost price.

 

Other information:We start with a shared meal upon arrival. On the day of arrival, we present the schedule of the retreat. The course ends with brunch on the day of the course ends and we are ready about 11:30-12:00. Unfortunately, it is not possible to arrive earlier or to stay after brunch on the last day when the number of places at Can Vital is limited and that space is needed for cleaning.

Yoga trips with Atmajyoti 

Every year we organise Atmajyoti yoga trips to different places.

This spring we are organising two trips to the wonderful Can Vital outside Barcelona - a Vipassana retreat and a yoga retreat. This autumn you are welcome to Mallorca and the lovely Son Salas in Sollér.
