Sudhir Tiwari

Sudhir was born and raised in an environment seeped in Yoga and Ayurveda. He grew up amidst yogis, philosophers, scholars, Doctors (conventional and alternative) and inspirational personalities.

While growing up at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute (founded by Swami Kuvalyananda), Lonavala, India, Sudhir started doing Yoga at a very early age, especially asanas, kriyas, and vedic chanting. In his early teens he was introduced to pranayama by his father Shri Omprakash Tiwari and his spiritual guide Swami Digamabarji. Swami Digambarji initiated Sudhir and mentored him into conducting vedic fire ceremonies and rituals. Swami Digambarji also inspired and guided Sudhir in his studies of Indian system of thought (philosophy, Upanishads, and other spiritual texts).

Sudhir completed his Engineering studies in India (1989) and received his Master’s in Business in the United States (1991). From 1992 to 2011 he worked in the holistic health and natural food industry at an executive level in the US, Canada, and India.

His life came full circle when he was asked by his father to come home to the field of yoga, to which he happily agreed. Sudhir then inherited most of his father’s teaching responsibilities across the globe.

Returning to full time teaching, in the field of yoga after a long hiatus, Sudhir realized that the field of yoga had changed. For him it became difficult to distinguish between asanas and exercises, between pranayama and breathing exercises and between meditational techniques and relaxation techniques, in the way they were being taught, especially outside of India. That it when he realized what his calling was. His mission and objective then became apparent and clear to him.

Sudhir now has been teaching Yoga (Asanas, Pranayama, Meditational Techniques), Ayurveda (occasionally cooking), chanting and various Indian philosophical texts solely based on traditional principles. He emphasizes,” times change, societies change, thoughts change but range of emotional responses to situations don’t” and that is where the effectiveness of traditional principles has been validated and revalidated time after time and generation after generations.

His mantra is “Breathe Positive, Breathe Yoga”

Sri Sudhir Tiwari
