She is a dedicated advanced practitioner and teaches Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama, adjustment techniques, she mentors teachers and gives trainings, workshops and retreats internationally. Kia is a devoted long-term Pranayama practitioner and certified to teach directly by Shri O.P. Tiwari according to the Kavalyadham lineage.

Awakening all layers of practice – body, breath & mind
As awareness interiorises and quietens, our practice experience appear more and more inclusive. This 3-day intensive integrates the practice & adjustments of Ashtanga Yoga & Mysore Style with Pranayama & Philosophy.
We include multiple aspects and perspectives to cultivate a transformational yet sustainable practice rooted in personal exploration. It is designed for all practitioners looking to deepen their understanding of yoga as a whole, involving all layers –body, breath and mind. We will look at ways to refine our awareness of the breath, its significance in yogic practice and philosophy, alignment in asanas, and the art of adjusting. This is an opportunity to work closely with Kia, whose teachings integrate her profound knowledge of breath, pranic energy, subtle and physical anatomy with hands-on adjustments rooted in yogic principles.
Please note: The theme of this intensive is to cultivate a complete practice, involving all aspects or layers. Which is why no single classes / “drop-ins” are available. Kia wishes to progress the group as a whole through all sessions. For non-ashtanga practitioners, there are how ever a limited number of spaces open for Pranayama only (2 sessions).
Please note that you do not need to be an Intermediate Series practitioner to join, this workshop is open for all interested practitioners with an established Ashtanga practice.

Ashtanga Yoga – Traditionally Sanskrit Counted Primary series

We open the circle of this intensive by coming together as One in body, breath and mind through the beauty and flow of a traditionally Sanskrit counted Primary Series. When we focus on counting the mala of the postures, the practice becomes the object of meditation for the student and the teacher – creating one single intention.

The art of adjustments – Principles, Practice & Philosophy

In this session Kia will share her extensive experience as a Mysore teacher, teaching through hands-on adjustments. We will explore the practice and philosophy of yoga Asanas, their purpose, patterns and context. Cultivation of internal and physical awareness, and observation skills is the foundation for all adjustments. We pay careful attention to each individual, looking at common body patterns, helping to build an intelligent, mindful practice and relevant teaching and adjusting tools. This session is explorative in nature and designed to support teachers as well as practitioners wishing to expand their understanding of the art of adjusting and the inner and outer form of the Ashtanga Yoga sequence.
Pranayama and Philopophy

Pranayamas, ancient yogic breathing techniques, link the body with the mind and take our practice beyond the simply physical aspect to the next level of awareness. Since the mind (Citta) is closely connected to the breath, observing the breath brings consciousness to stillness, allowing for a meditative state to naturally unfold. In these sessions we will deepen our appreciation of the subtleties of breath and its significance in yogic practices and philosophy.
New students will be introduced to traditional teachings of pranayama & kriyas, whilst those with more experience will refine and deepen their practice and understanding.
