A Teacher’s Sangha – 5 week course for teachers
March 22, 29, April 12, 26 & May 3
Yogalärar Sangha – this is as course for teachers to mentor, inspire, encourage, and share our experiences. Stepping into the role of teacher quickly reveals the obstacles inherent in the profession. Struggling to maintain a personal practice on the mat, filling schedules with too many classes, renting spaces, starting a company, marketing ourselves and trying to build a viable business that we can thrive on, drains our energy and means we have less to give our students. How do we find balance?
The idea to start a sangha for yoga teachers came out of my own desire to connect with others, who like me, make our living teaching yoga. As teachers, we are always meeting new students, offering our experience, assisting and supporting them in their practice, but seldom do we have time to meet our colleagues and co-workers, and receive this same valuable support. My intention with “A teacher’s Sangha” is to gather a group of like-minded individuals, united by a common goal – to skillfully teach yoga.
Becoming a teaching is often talked about as “a calling”. If you are called to teach, it comes from a heartfelt desire to share what you feel passionate about. Teaching skillfully includes taking care of our inner life, allowing time for reflection, self-study, learning, as well as creating supportive networks that nourish us. Yoga is a process of transformation. As teachers, we support this process in our students, but it’s even more essential that we honor this process in ourselves.
This sangha is open to all levels of teaching, from teachers who are just beginning, to those who have been teaching many years. All styles of yoga are welcome and even encouraged, for it brings richness and diversity that contributes to the collective wisdom of the group.
This is a course, which means that once it begins, it will be a closed group. It’s important that the participants get to know each other and feel safe, respected and supported. Our meetings will be dictated by what comes up in the group and what’s needed. There will be open discussions, opportunities get critical feedback, try out new approaches, offer and receive guidance and gain new perspectives.
The only prerequisite is your curiosity to learn and your compassion to help.
