PRANAYAMA

There is a place inside where stillness and abiding peace reside

You can ride the breath to go there

1 year Pranayama deepening 2026

Welcome to Pranayama Sangha 2026 a community of dedicated yogis who wish to deepen their understanding of the noble art and science of Prāṇāyāma.

2026 marks our third year as a Pranayama Sangha. – an open, living community for anyone curious to deepen their relationship with the breath, wherever they are on their yoga journey.

The sangha grew as a natural extension of the many years we studied and practiced together with Sri Sudhir Tiwariwho, for over ten years, was a recurring guest teacher at Atmajyoti. Some in the group have completed Atmajyoti’s one-year Pranayama teacher training, and several have also completed Atmajyoti’s yoga teacher training.

At the same time, the group also includes participants who may not identify as “advanced yogis,” yet who share a genuine curiosity, a longing for stillness, and a willingness to meet the breath with respect and openness. Here, there is space to learn, listen, explore, and grow — at your own pace.

Many have deepened their studies of pranayama and yoga philosophy with Viveka Blom Nygren, Sudhir Tiwari or Sri O.P. Tiwari, and together we carry forward the living tradition of Kaivalyadhama — not as something rigid or closed, but as a living path shared with heart, presence, and humility.

This year is a time for refinement, reflection, and integration. — to slowly and gently deepen both your breathing practice and your understanding of the meditative dimension that Prāṇāyāma opens the door to.

You don’t need to “know it all” to take part — it’s enough to be willing to breathe, listen, and be present.

Structure & Practice

The foundation of the program is our Pranayama classes three times a week:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 06:00–07:00 (CET, via Zoom)

All teaching is conducted in English and is also recorded, so you can watch the class at a time that suits you.

We also meet once a month for a a three-hour in-depth workshop, beginning January 2026, both in person in Stockholm , and online via Zoom for international participants.

Together, we explore the practice in depth, the philosophy that carries it, and the inner journey that unfolds through steady breathing and conscious presence.

Twice during the year, you will also have a one-hour private session with me.

The course supports you in building regularity, presence, and inner strength throughout the year.

You will also receive access to Atmajyoti’s online channel with guided pranayama sessions and reflective talks to support your practice at home.

Program

Content & Themes

Each session includes:

  • Guided practice and instruction

  • Reflection and sharing

  • Summary from previous sessions

  • Philosophical theme and group discussion

Texts we are inspired by:

  • Patañjali Yoga Sutras

  • Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā

  • Gheraṇḍa Saṁhitā

  • Bhagavad Gītā

  • Buddhist texts on mindful breathing

Together, we explore how these classical texts describe the breath, energy, and the mind—and how they guide us further into meditation.
Throughout the year, guest teachers are also invited to share their knowledge on selected texts and themes.

Focus of the practice

  • Refinement of one’s own practice

  • Preparatory practices

  • Classical pranayama methods, including Sat Kriyas

  • Kumbhaka and Bandha (according to the Kaivalyadhama tradition)

  • Meditation and subtle presence

  •

Chanting & mantra

We continue to learn and chant traditional Sanskrit mantras —
sacred sounds that open the heart and carry us into the rhythm of stillness.

Sharing & community

We continue to share our experiences within the Sangha—
reflections from our own practice, insights from the teachings, and how Prāṇāyāma weaves through our lives.

Each gathering creates space for dialogue, deep listening, and shared reflection —
a reminder that we are not only learning from one another, but through eachother.

Individual guidance

Each participant receives two personal sessions with Viveka through out the year—
to refine your own practice or, for those who have completed the Pranayama Teacher Training, to explore how you may teach Prāṇāyāma.

Pranayama & Breathwork

We also continue to explore the difference between classical Pranayama and modern breathwork
in purpose, method, and depth.

Prāṇāyāma is not about control, but about attunement, steadiness, and surrender
a direct path toward inner stillness and expanded awareness.

Who is it for

The Sangha is open to those who have encountered Prāṇāyāma through the Kaivalyadhama tradition or studied with Viveka, as well as to those who may not have extensive experience but feel a curiosity and a deep respect for this path.

The group is held in a spirit of closeness, safety, and gentle deepening, where the sense of community supports each individual and each participant is met in the practice at their own pace.
